I know that March seems like a world away from now but it will be here before we know it. As a volunteer at the YMCA in the fitness center, there are two events that I wanted to mention to you all:
On Sunday, March the 2nd we will be holding our 4th annual Indoor Triathlon. Some of you have participated in the past. I think that you would all find enjoyment and benefit in participating this year. It is a time-based race rather than what we are used to competing in outside. You will swim for 20 minutes, then ride the stationary bike for 20 minutes and finally run for 20 minutes. The distances covered in each segment are added together to determine who travels the farthest in 60 minutes. It is a great event to measure your baseline fitness and access your training regimen. (Time to get off the couch and get your own beer rather than being served?) This is also a great event for someone who has never done a tri before. If you know someone who is "sitting on the fence", please tell them about this race.
Two weeks later on Sunday the 16th the 10th running of the Kerrymen Pub Roadrace will be held. This is the running portion of Mary's Walk. This walk and run are the largest single fund raising mechanism for the Maine Cancer Foundation. The YMCA has both a walking team for Mary's Walk and a running team for the Kerrymen Pub 5k.

Please feel free to ask me any questions on either of these events. Enjoy the holidays and keep moving!
